By the looks of it and having seen the previews, it is a "modernised" expression of a period wushu/detective drama/action movie. (with more special effects, less linguistic & substance of the period era - Song dynasty). Viewed as a standalone movie, it would have lacked bite and completeness in plot; however if placed as part of a trilogy (hopefully), the storyline might sustain interest and character-building could develop better.

Usually, the "wuxia/period detective" dramas/actions are best watched in TV series (20 - 30 episodes etc). Or through comics (100 episodes or more).

I did watch it online and in cinema. It was not really badly done, though not memorable at the same time. (since the director/producer had hinted it would be part of trilogy).

Zone was an all-female pop rock band started in Sapporo, Japan in 1999. Although it initially started as a dance group, they turned to an all-female band. Zone has been categorized in a new genre called "bandol" (a portmanteau of the words band and idol).
Zone started off with eight members in 1997, then reduced to six and finally to four – Miyu Nagase(長瀬実夕), Mizuho Saito(斎藤瑞穂), Maiko Sakae(栄舞子), and Takayo Ookoshi(大越貴代) – by the time they released their first indie disc in 1999.
In late 2003, Takayo Ookoshi announced her departure from Zone to pursue her studies and was replaced by Tomoka Nishimura(西村朝香), one of the two original members cut from the band when they scaled from six members to four.
Zone officially disbanded on April 1, 2005, after playing their final concert at Nippon Budokan. On April 13, their greatest hits album E: Complete A Side Singles was released. The album debuted at number 1 with first-week sales of about 98,000 copies, becoming their first number-one album on Japanese Oricon charts.
In February 2011, Miyu, Maiko, and Tomoka announced they would be reuniting (without Mizuho) in honor of the 10th anniversary of their hit, "Secret Base."

Stereopony (ステレオポニー), was a pop rock band that formed in Okinawa, Japan in 2007 and disbanded in 2012. The three-girl band consisted of Aimi Haraguni/原国 愛海 (lead vocals and guitar), Nohana Kitajima/北島 乃花 (bass guitar), and Shiho Yamanoha/山入端 志帆 (drums). They were signed to the Sony Records music label.[1] The band released 11 singles and three studio albums.

Stereopony attended as special guests for Anime Festival Asia: Indonesia 2012. Stereopony contributed the song "Again" on the Yui tribute album She Loves You to be released on October 24, 2012; "Again" is a cover of Yui's 2009 single. After the band took a one-month break during Aimi's throat polyp surgery, the members decided to disband in October 2012.
