Hokkien Pop

By climbing 2-1 with ‘Wu Mian’, sodagreen scored their 4th No.1. However, the significant is more on the song itself.

‘Wu Mian’ has actually created a record by becoming the 3rd Hokkien translated hit since Yue Lei took ‘Yi Zhi Xiao Yu San’ to No.1 in 1983. The other was Xu Wei's 'Ge Sheng Lian Qing' which spent 5 weeks at No.1 in 1985. (if it sounds like The Phantom of the Opera, well, let's just say that it is even worse when I heard its original Hokkien version being sung from the getai just below my flat. Truly awful!!) *Note: I must have had so much trauma until I forgotten about this monster.

The best thing is, sodagreen is also the writer of the song, while Yue Lei and Xu Wei's were cover versions.

As mentioned, Jeff has managed to tie his biggest duet as ‘Xing Fu De Li Liang’ featuring Olivia Ong climbed 5-4 to match the peak of his duet with Karina Lau, ‘You Yi Dian Dong Xin’ in 1994.

Elva to beat Fahrenheit to No.1 next week. Cuo De Ren sounds bland for the first few listens, but it secretly grows on you. And why are Gary and Penny still struggling...

i really dun like the 2 new entries this week. bland and horrific are the only terms i can think of to describe them: Kenji is just creating a lot of noise and Peggie Xu sounds totally detached from the song - ie no sense of happiness. she better sticks to singing sad tunes and dun act cute like this. really makes me heartache.

I agree with u! I been disliking all the debuts recently. Especially this week. Kenji song really sux ttm. Think this is his worst song ever somemore can be title of his album...makes it even worse.

And peggy this song also not nice...she has better songs that didn't even chart...probably because the competition is weak so weaker songs like this can even chart -.-

Dun like 933 chart for these few weeks but no worries...stef, jj, rachel , fish albums are on the way!

I think he was in the top 10 idol organised by Lian He Zao Bao and ufm1003. He did very well in ufm1003 chart too..

I also dont really like this song...Xing Fu Yi wan nian is better but did not performed as well as compared to this song.

Xing Fu Yi Wan Nian also got to No.1, so not really bad either. His falsetto in that song sucks. I think the 2nd single is 'Wo De Hao Xin Qing' which is 10X better.

and sammi's duet dropped out just like that. Nicky's entrance to top 3 is a surprise!! also kenji's rebound into top 10. So many things im unhappy about this week. =(

Super disappointed with elva,sammi n jeff's results.Also,crappy songs mei li mao n ai wo hen wo still rise -.- . flh champed this wk is totally expected. Glad that ni bu zhi dao de shi is still hanging on in the top 10 hope it can stay for a few more weeks

No.1 Boyband

Congrats to Fahrenheit! With ‘Xin Teng Ni De Xin Teng’ climbing 2-1, not only they obtained their 11th No.1, but they also tied Mayday as the biggest male group or duo. Of course, Fahrenheit can undoubtedly claim as the biggest boyband, since Mayday is a rock group.

The amazing thing is that Fahrenheit hit their 11 No.1s in 3 years and 11 months; almost half of what Mayday took to achieve it (7 years 2 months). Their 11 No.1s are:

Rebranding Exercise

In businesses, there are always rebranding exercise, like the Dark related toothpaste decide to make them Darling related instead. This happened a lot with solo artiste, such as Zhou Chuanxiong ditching his old stage name Xiao Gang and Faye Wong discarding her Shirley Wong moniker.

However, for group is extremely rare. This week, not certain if it is due to legal issues, the formerly known as Bang Bang Tang group decided to cal themselves Lollipop F. Their fans still lap it up, and ‘Si Du Kong Jian’ debuts at No.15 this week. This gives us chart enthusiast a headache – should Bang Bang Tang’s record be combined with Lollipop F?

Charts Bits and Pieces:·
Nicky Lee’s ‘Zui Hou De Na Yi Tian’ climbed 6-3 and he thus become the biggest solo Korean artiste ever, toppling a record held by Jiang Yuheng since 1988 with ‘Yi Dong De Xin’ which peaked at No.4. Nicky is also the first Korean artiste to have 2 hit songs from an album, as ‘No More Crying’ debuts at No.19. (Note: Kangta hit No.1 with Scandal but as part of a group, not a solo artiste).
· Hebe’s ‘Ji Mo Ji Mo Jiu Hao’ at 171 points and Leehom’s ‘Ni Bu Zhi Dao De Shi’ at 182 points are within striking distant of last year’s song of the year, ‘Tuo Xie’ 183 points, a clear indication how much the chart has slowed down this year.
· By crashing out at No.17, Penny Dai’s ‘Ye Qiang Wei’ is her smallest since 2000 when ‘Bu Xiang’ stopped at No.18. Looks like Penny has indeed back to square one.

1. Hebe's fans are really sacrificing 'Ni Tai Chang Kuang' for JMJMJH. wonder what is the point really? also, leehom's fans just can't move on to 'Xu Yao Ren Pei'. what the...

2. i sincerely have no idea how Lollipop F can enter at No.15, since their last hit, 'Wo Shi Chuan Qi' (with a full album to boot) failed to even make Top 20.

3. again, another pointless intro of an English song, which shd be the duty of 987 please....

- As mentioned, the group is Lollipop F and not Bang Bang Tang. seems to be some legal issues like Jones Shi Kangjun
- Wanna Want You is a duet between Zhong Shuqi and JR.

btw i find ni an dong's new song not bad.It is better than 17 of the songs on the chart imo which kinda makes Chinese music much inferior to English.
