2013 sees no lack of quality Mandarin songs, but trashy songs are also aplenty to make it the easiest in recent years to come up with this list.

Sodagreen emerges as the artiste of the year with 3 hits within the top 20, 2 of which are well within the top 5. And I believe that any lists that excludes 我好想你 from their 2013 picks should be deemed the most irrelevant picks of the year. (I mean this has surely got to be the BEST song since the 90's era)

Penny does well enough too in 2013 to have 2 hits 你怎麽可以安心的睡著 and 吻 in my top 10 picks of the year, at the same time also having her compositions 非你不可 for written for Andrew in the top 20 as well as 無聲抗議 for Jane Huang just outside the top 20, making her the composer of the year. With Fish Leong focusing on her soon-to-be-delivered baby, 2013 is also the year when many people finally give Penny her long-due recognition (as seen from many forumers' and radio charts).

Another artiste to be thriving in the absense of Fish Leong must be A-Lin. Indisputably the next queen of ballads, A-Lin maintains her streak of churning out top 20 hits in 2013. A pity that she still hasn't garnered enough popularity in Singapore; she needs to visit Singapore a lot more regularly.

Since 我可能不會愛你 in 2011, songs from dramas haven't exactly been doing well. While 原來是美男 got mostly negative reviews for the show, 愛情怎麽喊停 was very well-received. Waiting for Pet Tseng's first full abum, as her previous song 淚了 (which was equally good) was also for a drama. 愛的生存之道 and 蘭陵王 also dished out hits of the year.

Jeannie Hsieh's 姐姐 did not even enter my charts (found out about it too late), but it is too hook for me to leave it out of my 2013 picks, being one of the rare few dance tracks to be included in my list.

[no competitors at all, but i see the need to award this song with this special title. just watch the mv once if you havent listened to this song, and you'll understand why this song is able to garner 11+million views in just 6 months (this is much more impressive than what Hebe, Fish Leong, Qu Wanting and A-Lin have managed for 還是要幸福,情歌,會呼吸的痛,我的歌聲裡&給我一個理由忘記, all of which have surpassed 10 million views on youtube.)]

[first time nomination for Andrew. despite being relatively new he has had some impressive songs and good vocals. while jay's 12th album is a marked improvement from his previous 驚嘆號, it wasnt lasting enough to threaten aska and anthony. Anthony's Friends is quite a refreshing change from his previous 2 albums as there is an obvious plan to move away from karaoke megahits, which unfortunately was my soft spot and Aska had to be the winner for that.]

[the list wasn't hard to come up with but the winner was. very tough choice between penny and a-lin, but given that they are both on par for vocals, the differentiating factor had to be all-rounded considerations. penny edges out a-lin with her composing talents. Both artistes maintained their previous standards they have set for themselves, but it was Penny who showcased her versatility from ballads (純屬意外、剪不斷), to rock tunes (你怎麽可以安心的睡著), to soul (吻), and even tunes as chirpy as 懶人漫遊.]
