er, no. But Jay has achieved something that has not happened for 13 years.

Jay To Jay

It is not unusual to have an artiste replacing himself at No.1 in the 1980s and 1990s. Famous artistes like Liu Wenzheng, Yue Lei & Maggie Deng, Jackie Cheung as well as Dave Wang has done it before. Why, Aaron Kwok still holds the record of replacing himself twice (yes, with 3 consecutive No.1s by himself!) However, since 1997, it has stopped. The last artiste to replace himself at No.1 was Jeff Chang when 'Shou Zui' replaced 'Yong Qing'. After 13 years, Jay did it as 'Kua Shi Dai' toppled 'Chao Ren Bu Hui Fei'.

Interestingly, Jay also set another unusual record. 'Kua', as in crossing over is only used in 2 songs ever charted. The other song was in 1984 by Jiang Ling, known as 'Kua Hai Ji Qing' (crossing over the sea to send love, huh?) which peaked at No.10.

Hold Still

It debuted at No.11 and zoomed to No.3, however Show Luo biggest opening in the Top 3, 'Wu Fa Wu Tian' is stalling at No.3 for 3 weeks now. Maybe he should not be singing hold still at the start of his song.

World Cup Related?

It's a pity that Jackie Cheung & Jane Zhang's World cup song, 'Qi Kai De Sheng' failed to make a splash on the chart. However, it is compensated with Jaycee Fang's 'Jia Dong Zuo' which opened at No.17. At least there is still some World Cup action on the chart. Will he score the goal this time around?

Voices of 10,000

Speaking of splash, Waterman open his account with the biggest number of people singing on a song, as 'Ai Hen Da' enters at No.19, boasting 10,000 participants. Even if only 1% of them are singing, he still beats 'Ming Tian Hui Geng Hao', the No.1 hit from 1985 with a pathetic 60 singers.

Hi Five Jay

Congrats to Jay’s ‘Kua Shi Dai’ holding steady at No.1. Although he did not managed to top the chart for 5 consecutive weeks with 1 song, he is still so far the longest reigning artiste since Andy Lau’s ‘Gu Xing Lei’ spending 7 consecutive weeks at No.1 in 1998.

Show Down

Looks like Show Luo is not going to like the records he has created. By falling 3-6, he has become the first artiste to go in reverse gear after debuting in the Top 3 from No.11 since F4’s ‘Yan Huo De Ji Jie’ in 2003. At least F4 debuted at No.1. It is also ironic that his biggest opening in the Top 10 failed so miserably compared to his other hits that debuted lowly.

Jumping Veteran

2010 is going to go down as the year of veterans, as after A-lin and Tiger Huang’s successes, we are now seeing Dai Ailing’s ‘Tiao Tong’ entering the Top 10 at No.9, up from 15 last week. This is her biggest ever. Will Dai be the next veteran to shine on the chart?

Chart Trivia Week 27

The Long Road To No.1

Congrats to Rene Liu as after 10 weeks, her ‘Wo Bu Xiang Nian’ finaly hit No.1. This is the longest trip to No.1 after Leehom’s ‘Ai De Jiu Shi Ni’ which took 11 weeks to No.1 in 2002. Of course, this is only half of the all time record when local singer Jiang Hu took 20 weeks to reach No.1 with ‘Lian Zhi Qi’.

Will Rene hold on to the No.1 spot next week?

By the way, this is also Rene’s first time ever to have a 3rd hit making the chart, as ‘Ji Xu’ debuts at No.15.

Jay’s Most Successful Protege(?)

It is said that whoever is Jay Zhou’s protege will be living under his shadows, thus under perform chart wise.

However, Lang Hua Xiong Di seems to enjoy being under their master’s spotlight and scoring their 2nd Top 10 hit ever. This is the 1st time a Jay’s protege to achieve such success.

Inconsistent Rainie

After a fantastic run with 2 No.1s and a Top 3 hit, no one would expect Rainie Yang’s ‘Pian Shi’ to perform so badly, peaking only at No.11. This is her 2nd time to fail to crack the Top 10, when ‘Yu Shang Ai’, the 3rd single peaked at No.14 in 2006.

Regarding Jay's protege, forgot about Lara. However, she did it first as solo when she topped the chart with the duet, 'Shan Hu Hai' then hit No.10 with 'Xia Yu Tian' as a member of Nanquan Mama. However, in terms of the entire group, Lang Hua Xiong Di is the first.

Jay's performance is so good and bad at the same time. Good because he can sustain 3 songs on chart. Bad because Chao Ren bu Hui Fei drops out only after 8 weeks. i believe Kua Shi Dai will plunge soon, with his fourth entry coming so high...

Show Luo and Eddie Peng should just fall off the chart... their existence just further proves how fast chinese pop is degrading...

Hi five for Show Luo and Eddie Peng. esp Eddie -- can't believe he can actually score a 2nd hit.

Wo Bu Xiang Nian is Rene's 3rd No.1. She topped the chart with 'Cheng Quan' (still my favourite) in 2003 and 'Shou Huo' in 2006, I think.

zzzzzzz mian hua tang dropped and claire remain stagnant T_T.
